MANAGER'S NOTES: April 15, 2010

The 2010 adult dragon boat season kicked into third gear this week with the California Dragon Boat Association Regional Regatta (Paragon Point) opening for registration. Dieselfish will have one representative crew in the race, but the option is available for a second. And it goes without saying, all the new paddlers who have come out with us in recent weeks are most welcome to sign up for this race!

I still remember my first race ever with DieselFish with a smile. Details are a bit fuzzy now, but some details are still super clear like learning where the only 24 hour Starbucks is in San Francisco, how fast my heart pumped as I took my seat for the first race (row eight in front of Cassandra, a very experienced Salty Fish) and my first finish. I felt accomplished because all the things we did during practice started to make sense. It all fell into place during the race.

I had only joined Dieselfish four practices before the race, but the experience of being part of the team at this race was invaluable and I would recommend any of the new paddlers to just sign up, come out and go for it!

On a related note, Dieselfish will be heading to Portland Rose Festival and Long Beach Carnival this year. Evites for both are out so please email me if you didn't receive them.

About all from your Manager, ’til next time!
